Community Samaritans

Food insecurity is the limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods, or the

limited or uncertain ability to acquire acceptable foods in socially acceptable ways. In Maryland alone,

1-3 people will suffer from food insecurity. different organizations make it a mission to help people in

need, but when we talk about church or any religious influence, the church is one of the things that are not

always spotlighted giving to the community outside of sermons and prayer. In (Luke 14:12-14) is a verse

on providing that teaches the importance of selfless generosity. In this scripture on giving, Jesus instructs

His followers to invite the less fortunate to their banquets instead of seeking repayment from those who

can afford to repay them. I went to three churches with food pantries and one foodbank with a Christian

background that gives food to different organizations but is connected with the various church

denominations. With these things, I wanted to show the church and the positive participation they have in

the community.
